My name is Nicole Ann Pore and my role at GOSEARCH is Web Content Writer which means my days generally include thinking of interesting topics to write about, read and research about them, share my learning and ideas, and put them into words for readers out there.
What’s your morning ritual to set you up for a productive day?
I cannot start the day without sending prayers up upon waking up and before doing any work-related work! Motivation is sometimes hard to attain, thus, I always tell myself that every day is going to be BETTER than yesterday. “Be productive today, Nicole. Don’t be lazy. Don’t be sleepy. Don’t get tired easily,” I usually remind myself. Though at times it seems ordinary, each day is a constant struggle to become productive, and encouraging oneself is one the best things, I believe, we can do.
Your favourite thing about your job is…
The fact that to be able to write and write and write daily requires not just skill and effort but passion for writing and everything else that goes with it. Really, it is very challenging, sometimes tiring and draining, but being able to read every finished writing piece and to see it live online is fulfilling and surprising. Words just keep flowing, and there I am, just writing.
Where do you want to be in five years?
In five years, I want to do everything I love, want and need to. I still want to write, and write in many other forms. I want to be holding a microphone again, reporting (more on human interests!) and hosting events under a well-known events organizing group or by my very own established hosting career! In five years and better earlier, I will pay back my parents’ hardwork big time and fulfill our goals one-by-one! I will travel the world with my family and with other people dear to me! I will still be in the ministry God called me to be in!
What’s your favourite way to unwind after a killer week at work?
Aside from sleeping for more than 8 hours, I like staying up late when there’s no work the next day – I feel free! Fridays are surely TGIF days! Weekends are for the family dates, for planned friends’ day outs and for Sunday church celebration! Weekends come and go quickly, but though they’re short, they give me the rest and recharging I need in all aspects.
How did you get to where you are now at GOSEARCH?
It’s my first job since I’m a 2017 graduate. I’ve really enjoyed and loved writing since late high school up to now! I found it a bit hard to write again after some months of taking a rest before getting a job, but because I’ve gradually gotten used to everything I do as a Content Writer, I can say that I got here because I’ve been taking the safe, slow and sure way. I don’t want to pressure myself too much in doing my tasks and thinking about the future. I’m a new comer to the world of work, so I’ve given myself some time to adjust, grow and improve. One of the main ways I got to here is by being patient with myself and aiming to make the most of what I have to do and where I am.
If you could have any other job what would it be?
I can’t choose one so I’d go for TV Reporter, Voice Over Artist and Events Host! (Or a job that has something to do with Psychology — that would be the last follow-up)
