One of the most exciting and most frustrating things about SEO is that it requires constant attention. That means constant learning, changing and updating and trialling new things. Classic SEO techniques such as content re-writing or user-experience improvements are great ways to improve your rankings but there are also things off-site that can be done to boost SEO.

Off-page SEO refers to any SEO methods that occur externally to your website, this could include things such as social media, YouTube videos and even customer reviews.

So, how do you get started with off-page SEO?

One of the first thins to do if you haven’t already is to curate an off-site presence. That is, create a Facebook page, Instagram account, Twitter or Pinterest – what you choose for your site depends on your industry. For example, interior designers would be better suited to Pinterest than removalists.

Social media accounts are not enough however, engagement with your audience is absolutely key! Respond to queries on your accounts but also others and get involved in other platforms such as forums. Each time you leave a digital imprint is a breadcrumb for other online users to visit your site.

The Internet is full of opportunities to improve your off-page SEO, it’s just a matter of keeping an eye out.
